Today was the first day we were able to sleep in and didn’t have
a set schedule. So of course I ended up waking up at the same time I always do
and not being able to go back to bed. I rode my bike at 8 to the Leucorea to try to use the internet.
It wasn’t working fast enough to upload pictures or anything really but I at
least was able to have a short conversation with a German visitor to Wittenberg
for the Hochzeit. He asked if I was studying there, what I was studying, and
where from the USA I came from. We talked for a couple minutes and then he
left. It made me feel good about being able to be alone and not absolutely flounder
in a conversation, as limited as it was.
I returned to my host family and had breakfast and then
around 1pm Simonne and I returned to the festival to see the parade. We met
with some of the other students and watched until it was over and then I went to
the Independent and sat for three hours outside people watching and
eavesdropping on the table next to me when I could understand what they were
saying.
