Today was tiring, although, I was able to rest
yesterday since it was a free day. The bike ride and 2 hour walk was probably
not the smartest idea when I knew that I was already tired.They were completely worth it.
Today we did a lot more grammar and reading in our text. We
also had Phonetiks class. It is hard enough to come back to class normally, but
when it is Phonetiks it is even worse. The girls who teach it I think are
really nice and they just want to help, and I think they think they are a great
help, but, it can be frustrating when you cant get the right sound out and they
are standing in front of you asking you to keep trying. I just want to tell
them sometimes, “let me go practice on my own, let me figure out how to even
make my tongue and throat do that, and then I can come back and be able to do
it, or at least once I can even make the general sound, you can help me improve
it.” But that is a lot to have to say in German and I’m not sure they wouldn’t
take it the wrong way.
After Phonetiks we had Kelly’s class. We went over grammar
and it was incredibly helpful. I wish they did more of that in our other
classes rather than spending time on games and trying to make “rrrrchh” sounds.
Words:
Gewalt (f) (-en)
= force, violence, authority
Zahlen= to pay
Zählen = to
count, number, to amount to
Kratzen = to
scratch
Krippe (f) (-n) =
crib, manger, day nursery (for up to 3 year olds)
I know that no one was a big fan of phonetics, but I think they meant well. :)
