Today the Halle Students came to watch our classes, play
some games, and hang out. We began by playing fun game
that was like rock, paper, scissors ("Huntsmen, Wolf, Grandma") except we got to chase each other. After
that we had normal class until lunch. Today we had a group assignment where we
had to interview someone and ask them where they were when the wall fell.
Jennifer and I rushed out so we could get to Herr Weigel first. Thankfully
Kelly was also there since the man we ended up
interviewing the most, “Helmut”,
had an accent and talked fairly fast. At least for me, Jennifer caught a lot
more of course. Kelly helped us understood what we missed though.
We then ate lunch and after that we were suppose to have
skits from the other group that prepared something for the Halle Students but
we found out that we didn’t have as much time as we were originally told. Apparently
we still had to go on a LutherHaus tour at 3:30pm. So a lot got skipped and we at
least still did the Tierpark scavenger hunt and I got to hang out with the
Ziegen, which are my favorite. We then went to the Lutherhaus and I think it
was really interesting but I wish I hadn’t been so tired, they keep us pretty
busy and I think they sometimes don’t realize how much class takes out of us. Plus, we all know that Dresden is this weekend and we are all trying to
catch up on sleep.

Grüdung = Founded
Rüsten = arms race
Entspannung (f) [-] = relaxation; (pol) détente
Freiheit = freedom
Freiheit = freedom
Helmut is really hard to understand. He never slows down and he loves to talk. His accent is quite pronounced. I'm glad that you were able to understand it when I simplified the German and spoke slower. Progress! :)
