It is raining again, and cold, but not cold enough to be
miserable like in the first weeks, although, that may be because this time I
have jeans. Today we had class as usual, first we worked on some grammar and
reading, then we moved on to some more history of the German school system and
how it works.
Once again I was late by about 3 minutes to class after lunch since Herr Weigel gave me a free drink and I didn’t want to be rude and not
finish it. I’m not sure how culturally that would be perceived. My Ghastmutter
gets upset when we don’t eat everything she puts on the table, which is pretty
much impossible since she loads it down, so I am assuming that not finishing a
gift is probably quite rude.
After lunch we read a modern rendition of Romeo and
Juliet in German. Then we acted it out with the majority of the class playing
assigned parts and then three of us (including myself) reading large sections
of the text as narrators. When the narrators would get to quote parts we would
stop and the actors would act/read out there lines. It was interesting, I’m
glad I had the reading practice. We didn’t really have a lot of time to work on
our project today but perhaps tomorrow we will get class time for that.
