Halle Markplatz

Our Scavenger Hunt Group at one of the stations

Handel Statue in the Middle of the Halle Markplatz
Today we went to Halle. Specifically the University at Halle-Wittenberg. We took the train, got a little switched around from some direction problems, but at least we got to see the Leipzig Bahnhof Station! We walked down Leipzigstraβe once in Halle and saw the Markplatz and 5 towers. We then got a little snack and went to the University to meet up with the group of students that was going to work with us. We ate a little something there (there is a lot of eating in Germany, I think they use it even more than we do as a bonding mechanism)  and then were separated into groups and we had to introduce ourselves to the groups. I don’t think they realized at first how bad my German is. Once they found out they were very patient and kind but I couldn’t really participate in the scavenger hunt they did because of its level. I at least was able to see everything, understand as much as I could contextually, and still had a really good time even when there were some frustrating/stressful moments.

Words:
Straβebahn = Street car/bus  (I may have learned this is German 1 or 2 but I don’t remember and anything is so much more learnable/memorable when you have it almost run you over)
Ente (f)= Duck
Eindringling  (m) = Interloper
Spitz (adj) = pointed; sharp
Kipper  (m) (-s) = dump truck
